You Become Who You Spend Most Of Your Time With! It is not just a saying but the truth! One of the best ways to push past beyond your limits is when you surround yourself with people who have already achieved what you want to achieve, or are are way ahead of you in the game or at the very least, extremely driven and motivated to achieve similar goals as yours.

There is a saying which mentions that you are the average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with. Have you heard it before?

Science actually backs it. There is something known as the Mirror neuron system. Neurons are basically nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that transmit information through electrical or chemical signals. That’s how our sense organs convey information to the brain whether it’s that of sight, taste, touch etc, although there are several other types of neurons that perform different functions.

Scientist observed that there a group of neurons in an area of the brain called the pre-motor cortex that not only become activated when someone performs an action but also become activated in others who see that person performing the action!

That’s why you feel like sneezing when you see other’s sneeze.

That’s why you feel like yawning when you see others yawning.

That’s why your dog salivates when it sees you eat!

Yes, this can even go inter-species to an extent!

The way you see others behave plays a huge impact in the kinds of behavior you display yourself!
The reason is that attitudes are contagious! If you associate mostly with people who are lazy, non motivated and pessimistic, you are likely to become more like them. If you associate with people who are driven, ambitious and focused, you are likely to become more like them even if you did not have any of these traits previously.

There is no wonder then that one of the keys to rapidly becoming extremely productive is being around extremely productive people!

I want you to write down the 5 people who encourage you the most. Or from whom you get the most positive energy and the people who love you the most and want to spend time with you.

Now think of ways you can spend more time with the

You can drop them a message on Facebook, Whatsapp, Email or call them. You can try to meet them at public events if you can. You can get also get a job with them or become an apprentice.

Make sure you offer them something of value to them if you want their help. It doesn’t have to be money, it can be anything that they care about or impacts them emotionally. They are much more likely to offer you their mentorship.

Stay in touch with these people every week. At least once a week. If they are not your family members then obviously you don’t want to stalk them but try and stay in touch with them.

The second tip is to create a group of like minded people and form something called a Mastermind Group. Napoleon Hill, the famous author talked about having a mastermind group, it was basically a group where like minded people met regularly and discussed their goals and plans. They bounced around their plans and sought advice from each other. Some of the most successful people in the world have mastermind groups. Whether inspired from Napoleon Hill or not, at the end of they said that their success is a result of collective wisdom and motivation from their group.

Now, sometimes due to a lack of time or not being in the right circumstances, it is not always possible to physically meet people from whom you can learn.

The great thing is you don’t need to always be around these people physically, if you let these people impact you some other medium, that will work extremely well too!

You can join online forums of like minded people.

You can read their books and blogs.

You can watch videos of their lessons or their speeches or their movies

While physical presence has the greatest impact, if you emotionally close yourself to negative people around you and start paying all your attention to learning from people you want to be like, even if you can’t meet them in person, guess what you will still make tons of improvement and start becoming more like them! If you are spending most of your time even learning from people who are driven and focused, you are likely to progress towards being a genius yourself.

One of the keys that helped me tremendously to regain my self confidence was reading self help books and going through the real life stories of great achievers who had to face tremendous ridicule in their early years.

I was particularly impressed with the stories of people who faced ridicule at every step of their goals and yet their supreme self confidence deflected all the negativity. I read stories of religious figures such as Buddha and Christ. They were ridiculed at every stage. Then i read the stories of great people in modern times such as Edison, Einstein, Helen Keller, Martin Luther King who too were opposed in their mission. All of the people mentioned went through troubled childhoods as well due to various different reasons and yet none of that stopped them from achieving what they wanted in their adult life.

It was also not just great figures from history, many famous living people also had the same stories to tell, about how they were made to feel like they were worthless as a child and yet the moment they managed to escape that negative environment, their success knew no bounds. I knew if these people could break free from the shackles of a low self esteem in their childhood and go on to become supremely confident, I could do it as well! Even today when I cannot meet the people I admire, I do everything I can to learn via reading their books, blogs and watching their videos. Just doing this daily has helped me progress tremendously.

At the end of this article, I just want to say that if you implement the methods in this article in ways you can learn from people you admire, whether in person or not, I guarantee you that you are going to make a lot faster progress than if you just try to figure out everything yourself. So do it now!
